Outlets and Gaming
Gaming fever has seized the outlet center industry, with developers choosing sites practically on top of casinos, racetracks and slot-machine venues, as well as partnering with those establishments in their markets to develop cross-marketing programs. The package of stories includes:
Horizons Good Bet in Laughlin
Talk about saturation marketing: Each of the 11,000-plus hotel rooms in blistering Laughlin, Nev., contains tabletop and TV advertising for the towns only air-conditioned mall: Horizon Outlet Center.
The Walk at Atlantic City
Last year Atlantic City attracted 35-million visitors, and Cordish
Co.s two-year-old outlet project there is doing so well that a 350,000-sf expansion is planned.
Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas
Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas is the only outlet center directly
connected to a gaming establishment, and the second shopping center of any ilk, after the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, to be physically attached to a casino.

Louisiana Boardwalk Opens
During its Grand Opening weekend, 375,000 shoppers visited O & S Holdings Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City, which opened with 27 tenants and was up to 42 by early July.
Las Americas Expands
Dignitaries and shoppers from both sides of the Mexican
border were out in full force for the grand opening of the 186,000-sf phase 2 of Stoltz Managements Shops at Las Americas in San Ysidro, Calif.
